Executive MBA

Oxford Brookes University Business School is delighted to offer three scholarships of £3,000 for its Executive MBA programme. This AMBA accredited programme, taught in convenient weekend study blocks, is exceedingly popular with students. The School is introducing three scholarships of £3,000 for students commencing study in September 2009.

Three students, who apply for the scholarship and meet the criteria set out, will each be awarded a £3,000 scholarship. The current tuition fees for the programme are £16,110. Please contact the programme administration team for more information and to apply.

Convenient weekend study blocks give you many of the advantages of full-time study while you test your ideas in the workplace and continue to draw a salary.

The Executive MBA is studied over 24-30 months, commencing in September with an induction weekend, followed by 10-15 weekend schools per annum over two years. The schools are held at our Wheatley Campus, conveniently located next to Junction 8 of the M40.

Our MBA looks beyond the programme itself to the individual, and students are offered ongoing executive coaching, which begins during the programme and continues beyond it.

Learning materials facilitate offsite learning, and you benefit from extensive face-to-face tuition and student interaction at the weekend workshops. The Business School library is available to you during normal opening hours, and the virtual library is available online.

Materials for assignments and dissertations can often be sourced from your employer, and your consultancy project can be tailor-made to meet their needs.

  • Teaching and learning +

The teaching team uses a range of learning strategies, including case studies, interactive seminars, presentations, guest speakers and purpose-written learning materials. The diversity of the students' backgrounds provides a dynamic environment for all the participants to share experiences. On campus you can network with many other students and alumni.

You can participate in international events, including an overseas workshop, which exposes you to a range of challenges facing businesses in different markets. In addition, you can take an elective at one of our partner business schools as an intensive one-week block in another country.

The cost of the Executive MBA includes residential fees for the induction weekend and the international workshop in the second year of the programme. Should you require accommodation for the other weekends we are happy to give you advice, but you make your own reservations. In this way, you choose the level of comfort and services that you require.

  • Student profile +

"I considered five universities when researching MBA programmes and chose to study at Oxford Brookes University Business School. I liked the flexibility of the Executive programme, which meant that I could continue working and was able to quickly apply what I learnt in the workplace.

Once on the programme, I realised immediately I had made the right decision. There was a great mix of people in terms of experience, background, culture and outlook. I found it interesting and motivating to work with people who see the world differently to me and who would analyse situations in a way that I hadn't previously considered. The teaching staff were all very enthusiastic which I found incredibly motivating.

Since completing the MBA programme I have joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as a director in the public services practice. During such a competitive recruitment process I found that the MBA really helped me as it has made me a more robust person in terms of negotiation and persuasion and it showed that I am always willing to learn and improve myself, something large consultancy organisations look for when recruiting.

The programme is challenging, but it should be, otherwise it's not worth having."

Ian Pendlington, Director, PricewaterhouseCoopers - Executive MBA graduate.
